As of 1889 the corner site of the given quarter belonged to merchant Nabatov S.V. heritors. Later on it was purchased by merchant Atamanov V.Y. who in 1893 built here a three-storey stone building – apartment house where there used to be a hotel, a book shop “Polza” and a ready-to-wear-shop “Paris chic”. The architect was Cherdantsev A.I.
The building is prominent because of its facades décor which intensifies on façade surfaces from the first to the third floor. On the façade adornments details of “Russian style” are used. Façade segmentations are formed with even floor-by-floor rows of windows, interfloor ledgments and cornices.
Example of the rental/apartment house of the late 19 century, the house due to its position plays a significant role in the urbanistic plan of the city center. Nowadays it is a home to Sverdlovsk Region division of the Federal Security Service Directorate.
The architect and master builder of Atamanov’s rental house was Cherdantsev A.I. who made his name as a project designer of rental houses, shops and mansions built on the instructions of Ekaterinburg merchants.
