Maslenitsa is the ancient Slavic festival which symbolizes the end of the winter and the beginning of the spring. Folk Festivals last for a week and the last day is the Forgiveness Sunday. The main feature of the festival is outdoor entertainment activities, traditional dish called bliny (pancakes) and the old custom of the dummy burning.
1) March, 10

Traditionally celebrating will take place in the Mayakovsky Central Park. There will be arranged noisy songs, dances and circle-dancing. Everyone will be able to ride on the sledge and try Russian traditional dish – pancakes. There will be also the fair where you can buy some crafts. And at the end of the Festival they will burn the dummy of Maslenitsa, of course.

15 different nations will take part in these Maslenitsa Festival this time. There will be Ukrainians, Cossacks, Chuvash people, Belorussians, Udmurts, Georgians and even Scottish people. They will share their own traditions with everyone. So let’s say goodbye to the frosts in different languages
